A novel Hamilton receptor monomer for the stoichiometric molecular imprinting of barbiturates

New molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) for the recognition of barbiturates were synthesised by “bulk” polymerisation. These prepared using pentobarbital as template in combination with a novel Hamilton receptor functional monomer. The solution binding properties monomer assessed NMR titration experiments, showing high affinity and lower related compounds lacking ability to form many hydrogen bonds. MIP via equilibrium rebinding experiments chromatographic mode, compared behaviour control non-imprinted polymer (NIP). showed far higher population sites than NIP which was reflected evaluation, where barbiturate not eluted from within 60 min, while their retention weak on NIP, leading extremely imprinting factors. Other analytes weakly retained those presented an acceptor-donor-acceptor array bonding most retained.
